This is the first volume of the Chronicles of Eden. It was published on Createspace in July of 2011, and is available as both a kindle book and a paperback. It tells the dramatic beginning of the story of Ahna, daughter of a nomad chief and member of a horde that is overrunning and destroying the long-established, peaceful and sustainable neolithic agricultural communities of the Old Europeans. The nomads are the takers, their life-style at odds with their nature; they must make strict rules to keep from tearing each other apart, and mental health issues abound. Women are marginalized or enslaved and kept strictly in their place, mostly because they wouldn't support the status quo if they had any say in the matter. Many still believe in the Mother Goddess, who teaches that greed is not sustainable. When she becomes a woman Ahna reaches for some form of self-realization within the limits of her culture, but at first only succeeds in mitigating a few of the short-term consequences of their destructive way of life. Her story continues in the second volume, The Takers: Wolves. |

The cover art is just a sketch the author did as a suggestion for a book jacket design. It's rough and ready style seemed right for the story, though, so here it is. |
